Pat Keogh Towing Services celebrates 40 years on the road

9 Sep, 2026

Celebrating 40 years in business, Pat Keogh Towing Services is the No. 1 24-hour vehicle recovery and towing specialist in Dublin. The award-winning family-run business prides itself on providing a fast, affordable and friendly service anywhere in Ireland and the UK.

Pat Keogh Towing Services has come a long way since Pat began carrying out repairs in the garage of his family home in 1986. He purchased his first tow truck – a Bedford CF with a Holmes 440 recovery boom – from Mick Murphy of Murphy’s Truck Centre a short time later and the rest, as they say, is history.

“I served my time as a mechanic with Smith’s, who were Renault dealers at the time, and was with them for over 10 years,” Pat recalls.

“Then, when I was about 25 or 26, I decided to go out on my own. It was the mid-1980s and the country was in the middle of a recession. But I made up my mind to give it a go. I started working out of a small garage at the back of the house, and it grew and evolved from there.

“After realising that no-one else was providing a towing service in the area, I bought my first tow truck, which was previously owned by the insurance company, PMPA. It went well and the towing outgrew the repairs side of the business over time. I took on my first employee after three or four years and invested in a second tow truck, which was a Ford Cargo beavertail. It could carry two cars at a time.

“By having an extra pair of hands, we were able to take turns with the driving. It took a lot of pressure off me.”

The affable Dubliner continues: “We got into heavy recovery in about 2004 and this now accounts for half of our business. We can recover anything from a motorbike to a 40ft truck. Due to continued expansion, we relocated to Greenogue Business Park in 2007 and have been there ever since.

“While things were tough in the beginning and there was a lot of hard work and sacrifice involved, we’re well-established now and continue to go from strength to strength.”

Pat is joined in the business by his sons David and Darren, who are also qualified mechanics, his wife Maria and two other employees. Over the past four decades, Pat Keogh Towing Services has gained the respect of thousands of satisfied customers. The company’s extensive fleet of vehicles are equipped with the latest state-of-the-art equipment to facilitate a safe and efficient recovery. From private individuals to large corporations, Pat Keogh Towing Services can organise all towing, transportation and documentation for safe onward delivery, ensuring you are back on the road in no time at all.

“We offer the quickest response time and most professional recovery service in Ireland,” Pat proudly states.

“We continuously strive to provide, and improve upon, delivering an unrivalled service to the customer. We recognise the importance of onward journey management, and advise and assist in this, thus minimising the interruption to your business and your vehicle ‘off road’ time. We enjoy an excellent working relationship with other recovery specialists which allows us to operate nationwide and in the UK.”

Pat Keogh’s range of services includes breakdown assistance (out of fuel, puncture and wheel changes, key locked inside the vehicle etc), motorcycle recovery, light vehicle recovery and heavy vehicle recovery. The fleet is regularly upgraded and maintained, aiding response time and excellence of delivery. Some of the vehicles have passenger cabs that can take the driver and up to six passengers off the road.

A full range of tow trucks are available for any kind of towing service you may require. Understanding that different jobs require different types of equipment, the Keogh family have carefully grown their fleet of specialist trucks to make sure they have all the basics covered.

“We’re running 20 recovery trucks in total,” Pat explains.

“These include tilt-and-slides, heavy underlifts / wreckers and crane trucks. The trucks are mostly Mercedes and DAF. We also have a mobile breakdown unit which is fully kitted out to carry out repairs on the spot. We also carry out repairs, maintenance and servicing in our workshop.”

You can rest assured that as soon as you place a call to the dispatch centre, Pat and his team will establish whatever tow truck you need and it will arrive fully equipped to get the job done. The recovery expert’s location at Junction 4 Rathcoole on the M7 ensures easy access to any part of the country.

Pat Keogh Towing Services boasts an impressive customer-base which includes many of the leading truck and car dealerships. Furthermore, it is recognised by the main insurance companies, is ISO 15001-certified and is a member of AVRO (Association of Vehicle Recovery Operations) in both Ireland and the UK, SIMI (Society of the Irish Motor Industry) and the IRHA (Irish Road Haulage Association). The family business also holds waste collection permits for Dublin and the midland counties.

Many truck show enthusiasts are familiar with Pat Keogh’s modern and immaculately-turned out vehicles which have won awards at events such as Full of the Pipe.

In summary, if you have a breakdown and need a helping hand fast, look no further than Pat Keogh Towing Services. Regardless of size, weight or location, Pat and his team can fulfil all of their customer’s towing requirements. As the business celebrates a major milestone, the Keoghs would like to take this opportunity to thank their clients, suppliers and staff for their continued loyalty and support.
