Full steam ahead for 2026 Tipperary Truck Show

The countdown is on to the 2026 Tipperary Truck Show which returns to Holycross on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6.
This will be the 12th edition of the extravaganza which was originally held in conjunction with the Dualla Show before moving to its new location, which is known locally as The Old Block Yard in Holycross (Eircode E41 HP98), in 2024. The decision to relocate to the all-hard standing ground was taken after one of the wettest summers in memory led to the cancellation of the 2023 show.
This year’s Tipperary Truck Show promises to be the biggest and best yet with an exciting line-up of live music, trade stands, food vendors, funfair, amusements, a dog show and trucks as far as the eye can see. Billed as a family event, the show has grown into one of the most successful of its kind. There isn’t another truck show that can create an atmosphere quite like it.
It’s also an opportunity for truckers to not only meet up with old friends, but to enjoy themselves and let their hair down amid these tough times which have been exacerbated by spiralling fuel costs.
“We’re hoping people will forget about their problems and have a great weekend,” says Ken Ryan, who is one of the show organisers.
“The Show is getting bigger and better every year. It’s a meet-and-greet for everyone in the industry. Unfortunately, some truck shows and truck runs have been cancelled this year because of the price of diesel, but we’re still confident that truckers will turn out in big numbers like they always do. It would be very difficult to cancel something that is so eagerly looked forward to.
“We’re also hoping that the weather will be kind to us. We’ve been very lucky in that regard since moving to Holycross.”
Ken continues: “We’re at it since 2014 when we started with about 150 lorries. The number of entries is well over 1,000 now. Dennison Trailers are the main sponsors of the Show and we’re delighted to have them back on board for a fourth year. Their long-term commitment is much appreciated.
“The Show has grown into a massive family event. There is something for everyone with people travelling from near and far to make a weekend out of it. You don’t have to be a truck enthusiast to enjoy yourself. It’s an easy-going, laid back, enjoyable day out for all the family.
“Holycross was heaving the last two years. The two local pubs were packed for the whole weekend and it brought a brilliant atmosphere to the place.”
The move to Holycross has been an excellent one for the Tipperary Truck Show. "When you have hard ground under you, it's one less headache to worry about," Ken points out.
There is ample parking and a separate campsite with toilet facilities. The organisers are very grateful to Tomás Hanrahan of Forestlink for making the 30-acre site available to them and for the support of the local community. Local broadcaster Eamon O’Dwyer, who presents ‘Down Your Way’ on Tipp FM, will also be on hand once again to meet and chat with some of those in attendance.
Ken is joined on the organising committee by his brothers Philly and Rob, nephew Kyle along with Paddy Graham, Daire Maher, Barry O’Keeffe, Charles McCarthy, David Donovan, Jack Fahey, Jack Hickey, Joe Daly, John Quirke, Paudie Flanagan, David Corbett, Johnny O’Dwyer and Dinny Aherne, all of whom receive great support from their wives and partners. As ever, they are looking forward to welcoming truck owners and enthusiasts from all over Ireland and the UK for what is set to be one of the premier transport and logistics events in Ireland this year.
Looking at the events taking place over the weekend, they say there’ll be more than ever this year with the public permitted to enter through the gates from 5pm on the Saturday. Whereas the public can pay for their two-day ticket at the gate, truck show entrants must pay online. Entry costs €70 both for a combination (limited to 20) and for a truck / commercial, and includes driver and passenger. Public entry is €20 for an adult with U15s going free.
“Trucks have to be onsite and parked up by 4pm on Saturday at the latest. The gates are open to the public from 5pm and we’ll have the BBQ that evening as usual and live music as well. It’ll be open to the public up until around 11 o’clock Saturday night.
“On Sunday then, it’ll be open again to the public from 10am, with the judging of the lorries starting on Saturday evening through Sunday and the prizes will be given out at about 4pm on Sunday with over 25 categories, including a new limited edition category. In addition, a food village will be open all weekend.
“Everyone is more than welcome to come and experience all the brilliant entertainment, shows, food stalls, vendors and show trucks that will be on display. We’re delighted to have Terry Grant, the world-famous stunt driver, back again with his all-new show. He was a huge hit in previous years. We’ll also have a funfair and dog show, RSA roadshow and a GRASSMEN stand to name but a few.
“There will be something for everyone with a fabulous weekend in store. We have a great team of volunteers who are looking forward to greeting you.”
