For sixteen years and counting, Aaron Dunne Tyre Service (ADTS) has been consistently delivering prompt, professional and value-added commercial vehicle tyre solutions to owners and operators across the midlands and beyond. Aaron is currently in the process of fine-tuning the industry-leading business to ensure that there is no compromise on the exceptional levels of customer care for which he is renowned.

Since 2009, Aaron Dunne Tyre Service has built its name on looking after customers and there is going to be no change in the eponymous proprietor’s approach as demand for his outstanding products and services continues to rise.

Although specialising in tyres for all types of vehicles, Aaron Dunne Tyre Services is renowned near and far as an expert in commercial vehicle tyre management, and this aspect of the business continues to go from strength to strength.

Nobody appreciates the importance of optimal-performing tyres more than commercial vehicle owners and the fact that Aaron has built up such a strong customer base of truck, van and bus operators speaks volumes for the level of service provided.

Aaron has recognised that if he wants to remain at the forefront of the market, then maintaining his exceptional levels of service will not be enough … he’ll need to improve them! To this end, when we travelled to Geashill and briefly interrupted the Laois man’s busy schedule, we discovered that he was in the throes of putting a second commercial vehicle service unit on the road:

“I’ve bought a new Volkswagen Crafter and it’s getting the signwriting done at the minute,” he revealed. “I’ve also bought a second tyre machine from China to do truck tyres and we’ll have the second mobile service unit on the road in a matter of days.”

When last we touched base with Aaron a couple of years back, he had just has taken delivery of a fantastic new Giuliano Automotive Equipment mobile truck tyre changing machine for his fully-equipped and immaculately-maintained Mercedes Sprinter mobile service unit. That investment proved to be a major success, thus the decision to add a second unit…

“There’s big demand for that service I’ve been incredibly busy, so the idea is to take some of the pressure off myself while continuing to make sure that every customer is looked after.”

Due to the lack of Irish people available to man the new van, Aaron had to look abroad to find somebody to work alongside him. “I’m trying to mind myself and mind my staff, but in this game, you cannot get staff,” he points out. “Nobody wants to do the work. You are getting three months out of lads and then they are gone; it’s a strange situation.

“Look, everybody gets good and bad days in every job, and I do very long hours myself, but nobody local seems to want the hardship of this job. That’s why I got a permit for a second guy to come in and once his VISA comes through he’ll be on board and we’ll have two mobile truck tyre changing machines on the road.”

Truck, van and trailer owners and operators across counties Laois, Offaly, Westmeath, Kildare, Kilkenny, Tipperary and Dublin – and sometimes further afield – know they can depend upon Aaron Dunne to deliver a commercial vehicle tyre-care service that is simply second to none.

“We have tyres for buses, trucks, trailers, a small bit of agri stuff, cars, vans, jeeps – we cover everything,” confirms Aaron, whose extensive line-up of commercial tyres allows him to deliver the optimal solution for every requirement:

“We’re doing Continental, Semperit, Uniroyal, Michelin and RoadX commercial tyres – all respected names and high-quality tyres. Here in this part of the world, where I have a lot of competition around me, I have to do something different and try to do stuff that nobody else is doing around here. Everybody can get their hands on Michelin and Continental tyres, but for RoadX, I have more exclusive access to those tyres for this region.”

Aaron Dunne Tyre Service also stocks all the premium brands for cars, vans and jeeps.

“People are looking for quality, and a tyre that lasts,” Aaron continues. “The market is always changing and there are some budget tyres there now that are as good as some of the premium ones.

“You ask the question ‘what sort of mileage are you doing?’ and the answer to that will have a big bearing on what the right tyre is for each customer. If a vehicle is doing big miles, then obviously you are going to recommend a premium tyre every time because you are guaranteed to get value out of them in the long term.

“With commercial vehicles, this is a no-brainer. Trucks and buses are on the road to put up miles, that’s what they do, so we will always recommend a tyre that brings value to them in the long term. Some people will already know exactly what they are looking for, while others don’t know much about tyres … we try to advise them all as best we can.”

The more things change, the more they stay the same. “We’re working away and we’re fully focused on giving the best service we can. When you are dealing with the public, it can sometimes be difficult but you just do your best to look after everybody and make an honest living,” Aaron adds.

“Your reputation is everything so you try your best to protect and improve it. I do say sometimes – it’s not a product you are selling, it’s yourself. How you deal with customers is vitally important. You want to be able to build relationships, to have that conversation with people and to relate to them.”

As for the future, the hands-on owner of Aaron Dunne Tyre Service concludes: “We’ll try to build and build. Once we get the second van out on the road, that’ll cut my hours and I’ll have more time to spend with family and living my life. It’s important to get that work-life balance right, so you have more energy to bring to your work.

“I built this business around three people but have been running it on my own and it’s been literally every hour God sends, seven days a week. That’s not sustainable, but at the same time, you still have to give the 24/7 service. The answer is to have two of us on the road instead of one, and that’s going to work out better for everybody.”
