Kieran Kelly Haulage celebrates 35 years

Celebrating 35 years in business, Kieran Kelly Haulage Ltd in Ennis, Co. Clare is a leading bulk haulage company specialising in site clearance, stone, subsoil, topsoil, sand, gravel and readymix concrete. 

From humble beginnings in 1990 when it was founded by Kieran Kelly, the third-generation family business has grown to run a 30-strong fleet and employ 25 people. As part of its ongoing fleet replenishment programme, Kieran Kelly Haulage recently took delivery of three stunning new Iveco tippers, including the first Iveco 5-axle rear tipper of its kind in the country. The other two new arrivals are 8x4 tippers. With their striking blue and red livery, they are a real head-turner. 

“We try to keep the fleet fresh to ensure our customers get the best possible service,” Kieran’s son and transport manager Shane Kelly says. 

“We take great pride in the appearance of our trucks which are always immaculately turned out, despite the nature of the work." 

The fleet includes six Iveco tippers, 10 Hino tippers, two Sinotruk tippers, five Iveco artics, a Volvo grab truck and a 161-registered, left-hand drive Iveco Strator 560hp which was imported from Holland and has become a regular attraction at charity tractor and truck runs. “It hasn’t been put to work yet,” Shane reveals. In addition, the company has an assortment of tipper, mixer and flatbed trailers. 

At the forefront of everything the Co. Clare operation is its people. Behind the wheel of every Kelly truck is a reliable, experienced and courteous driver. “Our drivers are the best in the business. They always deliver the goods,” adds Shane, whose father Kieran is still driving a Hino 100 Series tipper after all these years.

Kieran Kelly Haulage is a real family affair. Apart from Kieran and Shane, the other family members involved are Shane’s brothers PJ and Jack. “My brother Keith, who runs Keith Kelly Haulage, works for us on a subcontract basis.”
