Celebrating 55 years in business, Quinn Transport is a leading family-run logistics solution provider in the heart of Ireland which recently added another accolade to its collection.
Focused on delivering first-class transport services that not only meet but exceed clients’ expectations, the Athlone-based company was named Regional Transport Operator of the Year at the 2025 Fleet Transport Awards. Its previous award successes include The Pallet Network Depot of the Year for 2014 and ’16 as well as The Pallet Network Livery Award for 2014.
“We’re delighted to win this award. It’s nice to have and is testament to the work our amazing team does on a daily basis,” enthuses Quinn Transport CEO Mark Quinn.
“We have experienced unprecedented growth in recent years and now boast in the region of 150 clients, who we enjoy an excellent working relationship with. They come from a wide range of sectors and include Kepak, RackZone, Primeline Logistics, Delta Q, Midland Stone Company, Flamers Woodlogs, Bev Craft, Irish Water Jet and McSharry Bros to name but a few.”
Quinn Transport’s expansion has been boosted by the opening of a new 15,000 sq. ft. warehouse and transport hub in 2020. The facility is centrally located in Blyry Business Park, just off the M6 Dublin-Galway Motorway on the outskirts of Athlone.
“We used to operate from two different locations within Blyry Business Park, but now everything is under the one roof which has been a game-changer for us. It has made things a lot more efficient,” says Mark, who recently took over the reins from his father and founder Tony Quinn after growing up in the business.
“We’re centrally located and give great service. We’re very flexible and are always willing to go the extra mile for our customers. We aim to surpass their expectations.”
Quinn Transport specialises in a range of transport services, including home deliveries, retail deliveries, cash on delivery, pallet distribution, full loads, refrigerated transport and boat transport. The company covers nationwide daily and also the UK through The Pallet Network (TPN). It delivers everything from parcels into offices to 40ft boats to the south of Spain. Quinn Transport currently deals with up to 500 pallets per day operating a top-class fleet of rigid and articulated trucks, trailers and vans. All vehicles are fitted with the latest GPS tracking systems.
As a member of TPN since 2008, Quinn Transport is linked to 25 other regional transport companies throughout Ireland and over 100 in the UK. This enables it to organise collection and delivery of palletised freight and cartons / parcels on a 24-hour nationwide service and 48-hour UK service. Also offering international services, road, air and sea, TPN's central hub is located in Orion Business Park, Ballycoolin, Dublin 15.
“The Pallet Network is the No. 1 freight distribution service for palletised goods in Ireland and the UK, and the only network in Ireland and the UK that has achieved ISO 9001:2015 accreditation,” Mark explains.
“All TPN members operate to standard procedures set out by the network and performances are measured so that a high standard is set to give customers the best possible service. We also operate a track and trace system, with barcodes and individual parcel and pallet numbers assigned to all goods, so that we can track each parcel and pallet.
“We deliver to all 32 counties of Ireland overnight. Uniquely, we can collect from any one point in Ireland and deliver to any other overnight. This is possible through our membership of TPN. Furthermore, we have direct access to the best freight forwarding services across Europe and offer secure ambient warehousing for long and short-term pallet storage, with facilities to unload containers on site.”
The Westmeath company is constantly reinvesting in its fleet which is one of the finest around and is a familiar sight on Irish roads. It is currently running 29 Renault vehicles, ranging from artics and rigids to Master vans with curtainside bodies, and one Iveco artic. The latest addition to the impressive fleet is a stunning new Renault T440 13L GSR Spec 4x2 tractor unit from local dealers Reynolds Commercials. The new truck has been put to work doing nationwide groupage and trunking into and out of Primeline Logistics’ hub in Ashbourne, Co. Meath.
Vehicles that aren’t under warranty are maintained and serviced inhouse to ensure there is no such thing as downtime. Most of the trucks were purchased from either Reynolds Commercials or Setanta Trucks. In addition, Quinn Transport operates 16 Schmitz Cargobull refrigerated trailers and 17 curtainsiders, which are on hire from Truck & Trailer Works (TTW).
Mark attributes the family business’ success and longevity to the hard work, dedication and expertise of its 40-strong team.
“Our people are our greatest asset and we’d be nothing without them. We have over 30 drivers, two onsite mechanics and four office personnel. Our drivers are dependable, experienced and courteous. Everyone pulls together to ensure our customers get a fast and reliable service.
“It would be remiss of me not to mention my father Tony who has spearheaded the company’s growth and is still very much involved. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers and suppliers for their continued support.”
Here’s to the next 55 years!
