Celebrating 15 years in business, Tom Dineen Jnr Transport Ltd in Bohercrow, Co. Tipperary is a leading general haulage contractor which continues to go from strength to strength.

As part of an ongoing replenishment programme, the family-run business recently took delivery of two of four new Dennison flat trailers from Dennison Trailers in Naas. The new additions have been put to work mostly transporting construction materials and complement the company’s existing fleet of six trucks and over a dozen trailers.

The trucks comprise four DAF 45.106s and two Volvo FH12s, while the trailers include 11 Dennison and Robinson flats as well as a Dennison curtainsider and a Dennison low loader.

“We’ve invested in four new flats and have collected two of them already. They’re a lovely trailer with all the bells and whistles, including alloy wheels,” Tom Dineen Jnr explains.

“With site work accounting for up to 80% of our business, we’re hauling everything from fencing stakes and steel pipes to farm fertilisers. There is never a dull moment.”

Tom takes great pride in the appearance of his fleet. With their striking blue and white livery, they are a real head-turner.

“How your vehicles look says everything about your company. If they are clean and well presented, it gives a good impression,” he says.

Behind the wheel of every Dineen truck is a reliable, experienced and courteous driver. “Our drivers are the best in the business. We have five drivers and I can safely say we’d be nothing without them. They always deliver the goods,” asserts Tom, whose sister Hazel, wife Fiona and mother Teresa are other key players in the operation.

The affable Tipperary man also pays tribute to his father Tom Snr, who he took over the business from in 2009.

“He taught me everything I know about the transport business. He ran his own business for 29 years before I took up the reins and started with a new company in 2009. I started out with one lorry – a DAF 95 430 – and gradually built it up from there.

“There were some tough times along the way, including the recession and the Covid-19 pandemic. But we’ve come through them all and have never been as busy as in the last two years. Customer satisfaction has always been number one with us and I think that has a lot to do with our recent growth. We’re always at the end of the phone and will never see anyone stuck.”

Based just outside Tipperary Town, Tom Dineen Jnr Transport boasts a loyal client-base which includes BRC McMahon Reinforcements, Shannonside Galvanising, Brodeen Engineering, Bridge Engineering, Antara Shipping, Target and Nitrofert Fertilisers.

Based in Drogheda, Antara Shipping is a complete logistic service provider giving clients ‘Sofa Style Service’.

“We enjoy an excellent working relationship with all of our customers,” the managing director continues.

“It’s mainly construction companies that we work for, with an emphasis on steel work in particular. We’re big into steel transport. We’ve secured two new contracts with local fabrication company Brodeen Engineering to transport pipework to pharmaceutical plants. We’re always on the lookout for new business.”

Tom would like to take this opportunity to thank his clients and suppliers for their continued support as well as his drivers and office staff for their dedication, hard work and expertise.
