After investing in MAHA Ireland’s testing equipment to assist with the installation of a new Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness Test centre, Reynolds Commercials then turned to the recently-launched C_RGA mobile column lifts.

Reynolds Commercials has been in business for just over 30 years. From a 900sqft facility to one spanning 18,000sqft, humble beginnings have turned into a thriving enterprise. With 30 staff on the books too, it is a company that is a jewel in the Athlone community.

It is a Renault specialist; services include repair, servicing, bodywork and spare parts for both commercial trucks and vans. “Invest and develop” is the route the owner, Paul Reynolds, and his team took. That path has, according to Anthony, led to Reynolds becoming one of the most renowned facilities in the country.

Focusing specifically on the new CVRT centre, Reynolds chose MAHA Ireland because of its reputation – but why bring testing in-house, as opposed to sub-contracting to a third party? Anthony explained: “Bringing the testing in-house was a strategic decision for us. We wanted to have full control over the process, reduce downtime and avoid the inefficiencies of outsourcing. We’re a one-stop shop. Now, we can test, repair, and service all under one roof, which streamlines the operation and provides a better service to our customers.”

Anthony continued: “It’s been a few months since the CVRT centre opened, and the numbers are steadily increasing every month. We’re delighted with the finished product.”

The new roller brake, suspension, emissions and headlight testers, as well as axle play detectors and inspection scissors lifts, all manufactured in MAHA’s factory in Haldenwang, Germany, make-up this new CVRT centre.

While the CVRT centre continues to build momentum, Reynolds Commercials decided to make a second investment and purchase from MAHA Ireland – in the shape of the new C_RGA mobile column lifts – one that was made because of the lifts’ versatility.

The mobile column lift comes with a lithium-ion battery, which provides faster recharge times and more lifts. It combines proven technology with new features to enhance safety, reliability and connectivity.

Available in 7.5t and 8.5t models, the C_RGA lift boasts smart connectivity through wireless data communication and long-lasting power from its lithium-ion battery. It doesn’t need oil; therefore, maintenance is minimal.

Furthermore, the precision worm gear motor allows for accurate vertical positioning, while the slim design and improved chassis from its predecessors means easy manoeuvrability. Daisy-chained charging cables also provide a reliable backup that promises continuous operation in busy workshops.

Anthony said: “At times, we’re running at full capacity most days – we have a seven-bay workshop – so the mobile column lifts have been a game-changer for us. They’re versatile, allowing us to move them around the yard when needed, and they make jobs, like gearbox removals, much safer and faster. They’re a valuable bit of kit.”

Anthony also highlighted the significant impact on efficiency and safety: “What used to take four hours can now be done in two with the mobile column lifts. That time-saving is great for our customers, and, of course, it brings in more business for us. Our team loves them; in fact, one of the mechanics even joked that he’d quit if we didn’t keep them!”

Reynolds Commercials’ relationship with MAHA Ireland goes back two years. When the decision was taken to proceed with a CVRT centre, the company chose MAHA Ireland after extensive research and recommendations from other dealers.

Anthony revealed: “We kept hearing “MAHA” everywhere we turned. It’s best in class and has a strong presence across the country. It was an easy choice. Its equipment is second to none, and its customer service is outstanding. If there’s ever an issue, which is rare, someone comes out to us in no time.”

Reynolds Commercials’ decision to invest in both MAHA Ireland’s CVRT centre equipment and the mobile column lifts has undoubtedly contributed to its growing reputation. As Anthony puts it: “We’re now future-proofed, and we couldn’t be happier with the direction we’re headed.”
