No. 1 for bespoke cleaning systems
02/07/2024
Celebrating 21 years as in industry-leading supplier of cleaning equipment, chemicals and consumables to a wide range of industries, including transport and warehousing & logistics, OD Cleaning Supplies has again partnered up with Full of the Pipe ahead of the 2024 summer extravaganza at Mondello Park.
For 21 years and counting, OD Cleaning Supplies has been supplying quality cleaning systems, incorporating cutting-edge machinery, accessories and chemical products across all industries including transport, aviation, pharma, manufacturing, warehousing & logistics, hospitality and retail.
Specialising in sourcing and supplying machinery and accessories from a who’s who of leading manufactures (such as Lavor, Karcher, AR, RCM, IPC, Nilfisk, etc.) as well as consumables including hygiene and paper products, PPE and catering products, OD Cleaning Supplies invariably come up with a tailor-made cleaning solution or system for each client / company and provide full set-up, training, technical advice, backup and maintenance support thereafter.
Established in Ennis, County Clare by Niall O’Donnell, the company prides itself on building and maintaining lasting relationships with customers, many of whom have been with them since OD Cleaning Supplies started. Leveraging their expert knowledge and experience of cleaning technology, products and changes in industry standards and regulations, OD Cleaning Supplies are able to fully understand customer needs to ensure they always have the cleaning products and performance they require.
Niall is only too delighted to be an official sponsor of Full of the Pipe in 2024 and will also have a stand in Mondello Park over the weekend of July 13-14th to showcase a selection of the wonderful products and services provided by OD Cleaning Supplies.
“We were involved with Full of the Pipe going right back to when it started in Athlone IT [which Niall and his son Niall Jnr. attended and displayed their goods] and also supported the show on a few other occasions,” the Clare man notes. “They are local fellas and they put a lot of energy into the show every year. It’s the top truck show in Ireland now and we are delighted to be associated with it, not least because this is a landmark year for our own company as we are celebrating 21 years in business.
“OD Cleaning Supplies are importers and distributors of a vast range of cleaning equipment and products, a family business set up 21 years ago by myself and now also involving my sons Ronan and Ben as well as my partner, Catrina, who has been instrumental in keeping it going.”
For the transport and haulage sectors specifically, OD Cleaning Supplies import and distribute a range of systems and solutions including stationary and mobile power washing units. The stationary units are installed in workshops and garages allowing companies to wash their fleets efficiently and conveniently on a daily basis. Local fleet customers include DHL and Rory Lynch to namedrop just a couple at random but a comprehensive customer base has been built up nationwide.
“As well as the power washers, we supply other associated products and accessories such as scrubber-driers, traffic film removers, window cleaners, valeting equipment, vacuum systems and carpet and upholstery cleaning products,” Niall continues.
“Robotics are being introduced in logistics and warehousing cleaning and we hope to have a demonstration of this system at Full of the Pipe. This is the direction the world is moving in. I’ve been dealing directly with all the major manufacturers and suppliers for 21 years now and we’ve built strong relationships. We know their products and they know us.
“Our ethos has always been that when we sell a piece of cleaning equipment then you need to offer parts and support for that equipment. You have to ensure that you have a proper supply of parts and that you have the expertise to back the product up. How well the product performs is going to be dependent on how well you can support it.
“To this end, we pride ourselves on achieving zero downtime at all times as our sales, technical and servicing departments are all seamlessly linked into one another. We are living in an industrial world and every client wants a system that will give them zero downtime.”
The technology in cleaning equipment is constantly improving and as more and more companies become conscious of trying to lower their carbon footprints, sustainability has become a buzzword. In this critical area, OD Cleaning Supplies has been enlisted by Pat O’Donnell & Co. to work on a ground-breaking zero-carbon truck wash system. This will be launched later this year and will run completely off electricity generated via solar panels, making an immeasurable contribution to the environment.
“That system has been designed and the units are being built as we speak,” says Niall. “There is a lot of attention around environmentally-friendly products these days but unfortunately a lot of these systems don’t deliver the same performance and productivity rates as those powered by traditional means. That’s where we are different and offer a unique solution because we have worked with the manufacturer to ensure that the pumps can deliver the same performance and that productivity won’t decrease.”
The fact that OD Cleaning Supplies work closely with both customers and manufacturers to design a bespoke solution tailored specifically to each particular need sets them apart. “We go in and talk to the customer to see what system they have and what they need. All the manufacturers we work with are excellent, but for each specific need we can work out which is the best to deal with to deliver the exact equipment or system that they need.
“Some manufacturers will be stronger than others in certain areas. We link between the customer and the manufacturer to get the best system and we then supply and install it, provide training on how to use it and service and maintain it throughout the year so that it is always operating at its optimal level.”
Niall is a hands-on director and is on the road frequently looking after customers. When we spoke to the Clare man, he was on his way to Aldi’s regional distribution centre in Mitchelstown, Cork (Aldi being one of his many key clients). Is he looking forward to travelling to Mondello Park for Full of the Pipe 2024?
“Yes, we’ll have a stand there and I can’t wait to catch up with people we know and to make some new contacts,” he concludes. “It’s a small world out there and we’ve got to know a lot of familiar faces and names over the past 21 years. Obviously it’ll be great to meet new people and to let them know what we are all about.
“Full of the Pipe is a great show and it’s always nice to be associated with it. We are ‘people people’ and we will always answer the phone and deal with people in person. We go out of our way to look after all of our clients and we are extremely proud of the fact that we have been here for 21 years.”
