Flynn Crane Hire)

Coming up on a quarter of a century in business, Flynn Crane Hire is a leading crane hire company which continues to reach new heights.

Founded in 2000 by husband-and-wife Colm and Joanne Flynn, the Blessington, Co. Wicklow-based family business provides full turnkey lifting solutions to the highest standards, using an exceptional fleet of equipment and certified CSCS / CPCS personnel. Flynn Crane Hire operates a fleet of modern all terrain, city class and mobile self-erection towers ranging from 10 to 300 tonnes from depots in Dublin and Wicklow.

The company employs 25 people, including Colm and Joanne’s 20-year-old son Charlie who has been driving cranes for the past four years. Colm’s sister Roísín is also a key player in the business, as is new contracts manager Simon Carroll. All of the crane operators are highly-trained, experienced and hold current CSCS and safe pass cards. They provide a nationwide crane hire service 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year, with customer satisfaction their priority.

Furthermore, Flynn Crane Hire is ISO 14001 Environmental Management, ISO 45001 Health & Safety and ISO 9001 Quality Management accredited.

These are exciting times for Flynn Crane Hire which recently opened a new state-of-the-art three-bay workshop and continues to replenish and upgrade its fleet of cranes, trucks and equipment. The newest cranes are a Palfinger PCC 57.002 crawler crane, a Grove GMK5120L, a Grove GMK5250XL-1, a Demag AC 100-4L, a Grove GMK3060L, a Grove GMK6300L-1 and a Hoeflon C6e mini crane.

The Palfinger PCC 57.002 is a versatile machine for small-to-medium lifting jobs. Its field of application is almost limitless inside factories and industrial halls, in rough terrain, half-open buildings, through narrow and low underpasses or doorways. This compact crane can be easily transported on any trailer from one job to another, and can also go over a steep, uncompacted section with a slope gradient of up to 28 degrees on its own to the jobsite. Also shifting detached from the crawler unit is a possible way to bring the flexible machine to the place to be, when the height is too limited.

The Grove GMK 5120L boosts the versatility of taxi cranes to new levels. This 120-tonne machine offers an exceptional 66m main boom and can easily carry a class-leading amount of counterweight – no matter if counterweight configurations for 10, 12 or 16.5-tonne per axle are required. This results in great flexibility and low transportation costs.

With the longest boom and high capacities combined with a small footprint and excellent maneuverability, the GMK5250XL-1 pushes boundaries. The Grove single-engine design with the latest emission levels reduces the operating costs due to 30% lower diesel consumption compared to previous-generation models.

The Demag AC 100-4L can fit into the tightest locations, handle the heaviest loads and deliver the longest boom extensions for a 100-tonne class crane. With a system length of over 80m, the AC 100-4L has the largest operating range of any all-terrain crane in its class. A completely redesigned carrier and crane cab that were developed with extensive input from focus groups make this an outstanding all-terrain mobile crane.

The new Grove GMK 3060L all-terrain crane combines a powerful seven-section MEGAFORM boom with a compact three-axle carrier, making it ideal for a variety of work in tight locations. This crane features Manitowoc’s new standardised Crane Control System with boom configurator mode for fast and efficient set-up.

The Grove GMK6300L-1 is the definition of a 300-tonne mobile crane. It continues the success story of the GML6300L and offers even better lifting capacities, especially on the long boom. The driveline with the Mercedes engine and Allison fully automatic transmission is reliable and powerful. The GMK6300L-1 can not only be moved on the road with up to 21-tonne counterweight, the interchangeable slabs can also be used for GMK5180-1, GMK5200-1, GMK5250L-1 and GMK5250XL-1.

Finally, the Hoeflon C6e is a powerful all-rounder mini-crane which is ideal for placing glass and accurately positioning steel beams. It is the only compact crane that can lift more than its own weight. This makes it possible for one crane to lower another into an underground space.

In addition, Flynn Crane Hire has a wide range of trucks at its disposal, including rigids, artics and Hiabs, which can transport everything from air handling units to machines. The company specialises in transporting tower cranes, plant and equipment, modular units and abnormal loads to name but a few, throughout Ireland and further afield.

“We are committed to the highest standards of safety, inspection and machinery. We also take pride in our team of crane and truck drivers who are the best in the business,” says Colm Flynn, who cut his teeth with Trackline Crane Hire in Tallaght.

At Flynn Crane Hire, they focus on delivering results with safety in mind. They offer free advice and provide fully-customised quality services to meet their growing client base needs. In addition to General Crane Hire, they provide the following services – Contract Hire, Heavy Haulage Transport Services, Lift and Shift and Plant and Equipment.

As part of their full Contract Hire service, they can plan and manage all your lifting requirements from initial site survey, preparation of detailed specific RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements) right through to execution of the lift and ensure compliance with BS 7121-1 2006 Safe use of cranes.

Over the last number of years, Flynn Crane Hire has become one of the leading names in machinery moving and installation in Ireland. Offering full turnkey packages, the Flynn team can lift, shift, skate and jack literally any piece of plant or equipment from heavy duty air handling units, transformers / switchgear equipment to full factory relocations using the latest equipment and machinery. The ever-burgeoning firm’s professional and highly qualified personnel will get the move done safely on time and on budget.

Another string to Flynn Crane Hire’s bow is the wide range of plant, equipment and lifting accessories for hire. The plant and equipment are fully certified and ready to use. Plant can be supplied on a hire basis with a certified operator or on a self-drive basis.

Included in its Plant and Equipment are Man baskets / Personnel baskets (2 or 4 persons), Block Grabs, Concrete Skips, Spreader beams up to 100-tonne, Jacking equipment up to 60 tonne, Skating equipment up to 220 tonne, Chain blocks, Timber bog mats, Two way radios, Fork lifts up to 20 tonne, Telehandlers up to 17m, MEWP’s and Glass Vacuum lifts.

The Co. Wicklow company boasts a growing client-base across the construction, data centre, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and marine sectors. Colm would like to take this opportunity to thank both his clients and suppliers for their continued support as well as his staff for their hard work, dedication and expertise.
