For over 30 years, Doolan Commercial Repair Services has been a one-stop shop for all your truck, trailer and commercial maintenance, repair and servicing requirements.

Based in Creggan Industrial Estate, Athlone – next door to Michael Moore Car Sales – the family-run business is the garage of choice for many fleet and commercial vehicle owners in the midlands. When it comes to looking after trucks, trailers, buses and smaller vehicles, there’s nothing Doolan Commercial Repair Services can’t do. From servicing and CVRT pre-checks to diagnostics, tail lift repairs and 24-hour breakdown, it provides a complete range of proactive and reactive solutions to ensure that downtime is kept to an absolute minimum and vehicle owners can get back on the road as quickly and safely as possible.

The company is run by life and business partners Sarah Doolan and Roy McEvilly, who took over from Sarah’s parents Paschal and Geraldine in 2016. Paschal is still involved along with three mechanics who support Roy in the busy workshop.

“Roy and I took up the reins after my father became ill in 2016. Thankfully, it wasn’t too serious and he’s been able to carry on working in the business,” Sarah explains.

“We have four mechanics, including Roy, while I run the office. We have two fully-equipped breakdown vans on the road. We also provide a collection and delivery service for fleets.We will tend to any breakdown within an hour's drive and go further afield for our regular customers if need be.”

Doolan Commercial Repair Services’ highly-trained and experienced mechanics can carry out all necessary repairs to your vehicle at their state-of-the-art workshop which is constantly being upgraded and boasts a full range of diagnostics for all makes and models. The Co. Westmeath operation prides itself on its fast, efficient, cost-effective and friendly service.

“It’s all about the quick turnaround with us,” Sarah stresses.
“With time being money in the transport business, it’s our job to get you back on the road as quickly as possible. When we are called out to a breakdown, we will try our best to get you going on the spot. We are known for our experience with DAF in particular.

“We repair all makes and models of trucks, trailers, commercials, buses and even camper vans at our workshop which has two truck and two commercial bays. The workshop also has two lifts and two diagnostic tools, including Snap-on and Jaltest.

“In addition, we’re a recognised repairer for Dhollandia and Zepro tail-lifts. Our services also include bodywork and welding repairs. We can do everything here.”

Repeat business has been key for the family business which services the midland-based fleets of Dan Ryan Truck Rental, DAF Truck Services Cork, Tedcastle Oils, Certa, Hertz, Petit Forestier, Rohan Transport and Fardrum Transport to name but a few.

“We are lucky to have so many great customers who come back to us time and time again. We carry out general repairs and servicing to the An Post and Center Parcs fleets through Dan Ryan Truck Rental and Hertz respectively. We continue to go from strength to strength by providing a top-class service and through sheer hard work. Our phones are always switched on and we always go the extra mile to ensure our customers are happy,” Sarah adds.

Asked what the secret to Doolan Commercial Repair Services’ success and longevity is, Sarah replies: “I’ve asked this question myself to customers and a lot of them say it’s down to our availability and support. 

“We have been servicing An Post for over 25 years now and never let them down. We’ll do everything we can to make sure that all of our customers’ vehicles are back on the road, avoiding delays for them. 

“With us, there’s no ‘ah well, I’m busy’. We pride ourselves on always being there for our customers, it doesn’t matter if they have one vehicle on the road or a fleet, they all get the same service and are treated the same.”

Looking to the future, the affable Athlone woman says: “We just want to keep building and keep motoring on. We’d like to think that we’re very understandable and reasonable people, and we understand what the customer needs. 

“We have a great customer-base and appreciate every single person that comes through our doors.”
