From two strategically-located Dublin bases in Brittas and The Ward, GV Services provide a comprehensive range of truck repairs and maintenance solutions, including specialist concrete mixer installations and repairs. Irish Trucker interrupted owner George Vlasiuc’s busy schedule to find out more.
In the five short years since its inception, GV Services have quickly established themselves as one of the capital’s premier commercial vehicle service and repair specialists. With state-of-the-art truck workshops on both the north side (at The Ward, five minutes from Kilshane Cross, adjacent to the historic White House pub) and the south side (in Brittas, near Tallaght), GV Services repair and service all makes and models of trucks and commercial vehicles.
Recognised concrete mixer specialists, they import and fit high-performing, value-added concrete mixers as well as providing full concrete mixer trouble-shooting, repair, maintenance, upgrade and body building services. This is an area in which business founder and proprietor George Vlasiuc is particularly adept and knowledgeable – he even runs his own fleet of cement mixers!
GV Services offer a comprehensive repair service for concrete mixers and pumps, regular maintenance, engine and transmission repairs, hydraulic system repairs, electrical system repairs and welding and fabrication services, with an extensive parts inventory to minimise downtime and get trucks repaired quickly and competitively.
From drum repairs and replacement, to chute and cylinder repairs, GV Services’ technicians are experienced in repairing all major concrete truck brands, including McNeilus, Oshkosh, and Liebherr, to mention just a few. The cement mixer work is predominantly carried out for Roadstone and Kilsaran, who have plants nearby.
These unbeatable services are extended to cover all makes and models of commercial vehicles. Every eventuality is covered professionally, from a simple engine tune-up to a complete transmission rebuild, including hydraulic system and electrical system diagnostics and repairs as well as full welding and fabrication services, be that custom fabrication or emergency welding.
GV Services’ modern truck repair garages are equipped with the latest truck servicing equipment and their skilled, experienced technicians have access to all the tools and technology necessary to quickly and efficiently provide industry-leading maintenance and repairs, from scheduled preventative maintenance to major bodywork repairs and 24/7 breakdown recovery services (and, wherever possible, on-site roadside repairs).
George and his trusty team can service and repair all makes and models of trucks including Hino, Volvo, Iveco, Mercedes, DAF, Scania, MAN, Ford, Renault, Bedford and Leyland. The exhaustive range of services provided extends to trailer repairs, clutch, gearbox and suspension repairs and replacement, shock absorber replacement, brake repairs, wheel alignment, puncture repairs, chassis repairs and modification. In short, there is simply no work on trucks, trailers or commercial vehicles that GV Services don’t do!
“We cover everything, from importing, fitting, repairing and maintaining cement mixers to full repairs and servicing of all makes of trucks and even call outs for tyres. Whatever service our customer needs, we will provide it,” confirms George, who set the business up as a limited company in 2018 and has since been expanding it gradually on the back of growing demand for GV Services’ exceptional range of services.
“We provide a full service on concrete mixers from both of our workshops and also maintain and repair all HGVs and light commercials. We opened the garage in Brittas in 2018 and added the second garage in The Ward a year later. We’re very busy and get a lot of work from regular customers. At the moment, we have four technicians in Brittas and seven in The Ward. Business is growing all the time and I can’t complain. It’s good to be busy.”
The real beauty of GV Services is that the business is overseen by a genuine truck and machinery enthusiast who possesses an infectious passion for commercial vehicles – an outlook which is shared by all his team, resulting in a wide-ranging and dependable suite of services. “We can do literally anything on any truck,” George reaffirms.
“Vans, HGVs, concrete mixers, trailers, plant and machinery – we give a full service on everything and all the work is done at a fair price. We run all the latest TEXA diagnostics in both garages and are available around the clock for call-outs and on-site repairs. It’s very important to make sure you are providing the best possible service. I find that when I look after my customers they will come back again, and they will also let others know.”
Positive referrals through word of mouth represent the best advertising of all in any line of work and this is an area in which GV Services have never been found wanting. They enjoy a stellar reputation city-wide and beyond and demand for their services is such that George’s phone never stops ringing.
Working with heavy machinery is very much embedded in George Vlasiuc’s DNA. Originally from Moldova, he has worked with trucks all his life. Back home, he inherited his interest in all things truck-related from his father, who was also a truck mechanic.
As well as fixing and upkeeping trucks, George also runs a fleet of his own: “I have five cement mixers working for Kilsaran,” he concludes. “I used to have twelve at one time when things were really busy but it’s quieter now and five works better. But we are very busy with the cement mixer supply and fitting as well as the truck repairs and servicing, so we’ll keep looking after our customers and giving them a great service at a fair price.”
