Conveniently located on the N22, right between Tralee and Killarney, we returned to picturesque Farranfore to visit Kerry Truck Services and touched base with office manager Sonja Mullins to get an update. For 23 years and counting, Kerry Truck Services has been delivering a complete range of industry-leading services to commercial vehicle operators across Kerry and neighbouring counties.

Boasting decades of experience and expertise, Kerry Truck Services’ ever-dependable eleven-strong team are on hand around the clock to provide a comprehensive range of commercial vehicle maintenance, servicing, diagnostics and repairs solutions to a loyal and ever-growing customer base  from the Kingdom and beyond.

Through a tried-and-trusted process of continually investing and evolving to achieve absolute customer satisfaction when it comes to truck, van and trailer upkeep, Kerry Truck Services has gone from strength to strength over the years.

With a team of eight technicians (including in-house apprentices) on hand in their state-of-the-art,  five-bay, three-pit workshop – with access to the latest tools and diagnostic equipment – as well as  seven service vehicles, Kerry Truck Services can handle all work on any type of commercial vehicle for clients.

The enduring success and popularity of the business is epitomised by their excellent staff, including recently-recruited store manager Danny, who is a big addition to the team and can source whatever parts customers require. ”Danny has great knowledge of the industry and can offer excellent advice on necessary parts, tools and equipment,” said Sonja.

Kerry Truck Services service and maintain a diverse range of heavy and light commercial vehicles, from trucks, trailers and buses to vans, transporters and specialised vehicles such as milk and oil tankers, refuse trucks, sweepers and fire engines. They are very proud to support companies across Kerry and Cork such as Christy Lucey Transport, KWD Recycling, Kerry Group, Corrib Oil, Higgins Waste & Recycling, Kerry County Council and many more. They also maintain and repair pumps, hydraulics and metering equipment and provide individual DOE and 13-week inspection planners well as a customer portal on Assetminder which allows direct access to all truck information like DOE certs, inspection and brake test reports.

“We’ve been getting busier and we’ve invested in our facilities, vehicles and people,” Sonja reveals, who kindly took a few moments out from her busy schedule to speak to Irish Trucker. “We’ve expanded our own fleet to seven service vehicles and one truck, while the workshop now includes five bays and three pits, with a hydraulic lift and hydraulic column lift with a capacity of 32 tonnes. We’re getting stronger all the time and this is largely down to the fact that we have a very strong customer base. We’re always looking at ways to improve our service and give customers more. In this regard, the appointment of our new store manager Danny was a big step. We also have a professional in-house valeting service on site where Eugene valets and polishes cars, vans and trucks. He does a great job and that’s another additional service that is proving very popular.” One of the real advantages of Kerry Truck Services is that no job is ever considered too large or too small – and each is invariably tackled with the same enthusiasm and professionalism. “We do everything from a small van to a large fleet of HGVs, from a flat battery to a broken mirror, a cracked windscreen or a blown engine, we will look after everybody,” Sonja confirms. “That’s very important. We’re here for any customer of any size.”

“Our mechanics are vastly experienced and have been with us for a long time. We’re 23 years in business and one of the mechanics has been here for 15 of those years. There’s a great team here and everybody goes out of their way to look after customers and their vehicles.”

Proprietor Jason Cotter consistently invests in the latest and best equipment and services to make sure that Kerry Truck Services are always at the cutting edge technically. But these tools and equipment would be worthless without the right people to operate them.

“Our focus is on how can we best look after our customers and give them the level of service they deserve. We are lucky to have a very good team,” the enthusiastic office manager concludes.

“Everybody gets on great and they all work hand in hand as part of that team. There’s a great team spirit here and a good atmosphere. They are organised and professional, and fully focused on their work – you couldn’t wish to be part of a better team!”
