Irish warehousing and distribution specialists Vanfleet Transport has rounded out the year by taking delivery of a number of Mercedes-Benz heavy-duty Actros trucks, bringing to nine the number of units the firm has added to its commercial vehicle fleet in 2022.

The latest arrivals form part of a significant 29 unit order, with the remaining 20 – a mix of Actros tractor units and rigids – due to be delivered in early 2023.

A Mercedes-Benz customer since 2019, the appeal of the Actros is said by Vanfleet managing director, Tom Fitzsimons to be ‘a combination of its good looks coupled with impressive fuel economy.’

Supplied by Naas Road-based Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer, MUTEC, the nine 1840LS tractor units – complete with 400bhp, 10.7 litre engines – all come with high performance engine braking and 12 speed powershift gearbox.

Comfort features in the 2.3 Stream Space cabs include air conditioning, night heater and LED ambient lighting, whilst external styling includes chrome accessory package and roof lights.

With roots tracing back to 1936, Vanfleet Transport is a family-owned business employing 50 people. With headquarters in Dublin 11, and a depot in Dublin 15, the firm provides distribution services to Dunnes Stores across the 32 counties.
