Based in Julianstown, Co. Meath, GT Group is a one-stop shop for all your motor repair and recovery needs. General manager Bryan Teeling explains more about the successful family business which has grown to employ 25 people and runs a fleet of over 20 recovery vehicles.
GT Group is made up of three separate divisions – GT Recovery, GT Crash Repair Centre and GT Tyre & Service Centre – and combined they bring customers a complete range of motoring repair and maintenance services all under one roof. Its full range of automotive services cover everything the motorist needs to keep both private and commercial vehicles in top condition and on the road for miles of trouble-free motoring.
Covering Dublin and the North-East, GT Recovery provides an unrivalled 24/7 recovery and breakdown service all year round. Some of its clients include An Garda Siochana, Dublin Port Tunnel, insurance companies, main dealers, motorway maintenance as well as its own customer-base built up through years of service. All recovery staff are trained and certified to the highest standards.
GT Recovery operates a wide range of recovery vehicles, from heavy under-lift vehicles and articulated trucks with 50-tonne HIAB capacity to slide bed trucks, low loaders and car park recovery units. Regardless of size, weight or location, the recovery division can fulfil all of its customers’ heavy towing requirements. In addition, GT Recovery offers a home rescue service covering everything from a flat tyre to a flat battery.
“We specialise in recovering and transporting all types of commercial, heavy goods and agricultural vehicles,” Bryan says.
“We’re approved by all the main insurance companies to provide recovery and breakdown assistance anywhere in Ireland. But as a business located on the Meath border with Louth and Dublin, and just off Junction 7 of the M1, we predominantly stick to the North-East and Dublin regions.
“We have over 20 recovery vehicles in our fleet and can provide recovery and transport for all types of cars, commercial vehicles, heavy goods vehicles and motorcycles.
“We also have a range of slide-bed, low loaders and beaver tails available for the recovery of heavy plant and agricultural equipment. We’re constantly upgrading and investing in our fleet which bears our distinctive black and grey livery and branding. We recently added another string to our bow by taking delivery of three road sweepers. The need for these has come from clean-up work after road accidents.”
GT Crash Repair Centre is a market leader in providing collision damage repairs to all types of vehicles. This division offers a comprehensive range of crash repair services using the latest equipment. GT’s body repair specialists are qualified to the highest industry standards and are committed to producing the highest quality repairs and finishes.
The Crash Repair Centre specialises in chassis alignment and major body repair and replacement along with full body resprays and complete vehicle colour changes using the very latest technology in oven bake finishing. A state-of-the-art colour matching system is used to ensure a top-quality showroom finish, every time.
GT Tyre & Service Centre supplies and fits all the leading tyre brands, including Semperit, Pirelli, Bridgestone, Dunlop and many more to suit all budgets and all types of vehicles. The Service Centre also provides a full range of vehicle maintenance and repair services to keep your vehicle in top motoring conditioning all year round. Furthermore, it stocks an extensive range of alloy wheels, car accessories, premium brand batteries and much more.
“We stock a huge range of tyre brands for all cars and light commercials. We have two fully kitted-out mobile tyre units which provide a 24-hour breakdown service as well as 4-wheel 3D laser alignment and wheel balancing,” Bryan continues.
“We have earned an outstanding reputation for providing a fast, reliable, value-for-money and convenient 24-hour mobile tyre repair and replacement service to a wide range of customers across our region.
“We also offer complete car, commercial, bus and truck service and repairs, including full service and inspection, computer diagnostics, pre-NCT services, engine repairs, fleet maintenance and management. We maintain our own fleet along with those of others. We have 10 vehicle ramps and a dedicated NCT test lane for pre-testing of all vehicles to ensure accurate pre-testing and remedy of any defects.”
GT Group has come a long way since 1990 when the late Mike Ferguson and his wife Martina bought a run-down service station in Gormanston which they transformed over the next 15 years. Their son and current managing director Darren joined the family business in 2001 and, having carried out puncture repairs and sold tyres on a small scale, set up GT Group in nearby Julianstown following the sale of the service station in 2005.
Today, GT Group employs a professional and dedicated team of drivers / recovery operatives, tyre fitters, technicians and administration staff who are its greatest asset.
