At last: a bridge at Reilly's level crossing!

18/04/2017

Delays at Reilly’s level crossing often force motorists to wait for up to 15 minutes while trains pass during rush hour – but it is being replaced by a €10m overbridge.

The new bridge on the Ratoath Road over the Royal Canal is expected to be completed within 18 months, so it should be opened to the public by 2015.

Thousands of motorists are affected daily by delays at Reilly’s level crossing as up to 107 trains a day (running on the Maynooth line) pass through the junction. Up to 55 of these trains pass at peak times.

The project – which has been conceived by Iarnrod Eireann in conjunction with Dublin City Council - is being funded by the National Transport Authority.
