Cahill Truck Bodies main customers include hauliers, farmers and horse transport companies.
Founded in 1939 by the recently-deceased Patrick Cahill, the family-run business is now in its third generation, with brothers Rory and Eoin Cahill following in the footsteps of their aforementioned grandfather and father Joseph, who remains heavily involved in the company. Employing 10 staff, Cahill Truck Bodies has a large and loyal customer-base in the South-East, but also attracts customers from all over Ireland.
Its main customers include hauliers, farmers and horse transport companies. As one of the leading producers of horseboxes in Ireland, Cahill Truck Bodies is proud to be a Renault-approved partner.
“We’re particularly well-known in the horse transport industry, supplying to transport companies, trainers and stud farms. We also have a lot of customers in the haulage and farming sectors,” Rory explains.
Standard products include side-curtain bodies, GRP box bodies, tippers, fridge bodies, machinery carriers, bread vans, demountable body systems and drop-side bodies. Cahill’s undertake specialised projects from the concept stage and work through all stages from concept to manufacturing with customers. Among the specialist vehicles they produce are mobile libraries, mobile workshops, mobile display units and catering trailers.
“Some of our customers have very specific requirements and it’s our job to design and manufacture exactly what they want. If a customer comes into us with a layout drawing, we will get working on it straight away. If they want something made to specification, we will do it for them,” Rory continues.
Three generations of experience in commercial bodybuilding is coupled with 3D CAD technology in the design of Cahill Truck Bodies’ products. The company’s employees use their considerable experience, knowledge and skill to manufacture a wide range of products using quality materials and relevant manufacturing technologies.
The Kilkenny-based firm offers a diverse range of additional features such as toolboxes/storage lockers, cargo control, auxiliary hydraulic circuits, specialised electrical installations and aerodynamic features.
When it comes to producing horseboxes, Cahill Truck Bodies has few equals, having established a reputation for quality, durability and style over the past 70 years. They offer a range of high-quality horseboxes to suit the needs of horse transporters, trainers, breeders and eventers. The horseboxes they have manufactured transport hundreds of horses throughout Europe on a daily basis.
Cahill’s reputation is built on supplying a quality product designed to each individual customer's requirements. The key principles in their product are animal comfort and safety, operator usability, reliability and a complimentary finish. Their long-standing relationship with Ireland’s leading horse transport operators has given them the experience and knowledge to design and manufacture a quality horsebox based on these principles.
All of Cahill Truck Bodies’ horseboxes that are specified for international horse transport are fully compliant with all of the requirements of EU council regulations, ((EC) 1 of 2005 on the protection of animals in transport and related operations), for the purpose of achieving "Type 2" authorisation from the Department of Agriculture and Food. They offer many features ranging from ramp options to stall configurations to living/grooms areas.
No job is too big or too small for this highly-reputable family-run concern. Here’s to another 75 years of Cahill Truck Bodies!
