The government’s ‘Return to Work Safely’ protocol requires all employers and employees to receive training on safe practices in the workplace to prevent the spread of COVID-19. FTAI, the business group representing the Irish logistics sector, has today (28 May 2020) launched two online training courses, designed for those working within the freight distribution, logistics and passenger transport sectors to enable them to implement the guidelines and reopen business safely.

The first course, COVID-19 General & Driver Induction Training Course provides a 30-minute overview on employer and employee obligations under the ‘Return to Work Safely’ protocol. The second, COVID-19 Worker Representative Training Course, is a more in-depth, tailored two-hour programme designed for the freight distribution, logistics and passenger transport industries, for those with added responsibility in the workplace.

Aidan Flynn, General Manager of FTAI, comments: “Protecting the safety of the workforce is the priority of all businesses within the logistics sector. To help employers and employees understand their legal obligations under the government’s ‘Return to Work Safely’ protocol, FTAI’s new online courses have been designed with accessibility and affordability in mind. The courses will help to ensure businesses are able to kickstart their operations as efficiently and swiftly as possible, and, most importantly, contain the spread of COVID-19 through effective and safe working practices.”

The training courses are available online and can be booked by emailing [email protected] or phoning 018447516. For group bookings of more than six people, please contact Kathryn Kennedy on [email protected] or by phoning 018447516.
