FTAI call on support for Declan Allen in upcoming Seanad elections

Transport and logistics businesses are increasingly needing a strong voice to steer the industry through the challenging times ahead. And, as a nominating body for the Industrial and Commercial Panel of Seanad Éireann, FTA Ireland (FTAI) is delighted to endorse Declan Allen for the forthcoming election.

Declan Allen is a Senior Lecturer at the Technological University of Dublin (TU Dublin) and has more than 30 years’ experience of engagement and collaboration with the Irish automotive, freight, transport and logistics industries. Speaking of his endorsement, Mr Allen commented: “I am honoured to be nominated by FTAI to run for the Seanad Éireann Industrial and Commercial Panel. Ireland’s world class manufacturing sector is dependent upon world class logistics and supply chain management. As a result, my campaign focuses on key issues that currently affect the sector such as; sustainable logistics, mitigating the risks of Brexit – while also seizing the opportunities – and tackling the skills shortage.”

The logistics industry and supply chain have always played a vital background role in ensuring the Irish economy, and wider society, continues to function efficiently. However, due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the work of the industry is currently being highlighted on a global scale. Mr Allen continues: “At the end of this unprecedented crisis, we will not just need to rebuild our economy, but also redesign many of our supply chains. I am thrilled that FTAI, a business group so crucial to the industry, has placed its confidence in me and my expertise to be the strong independent voice needed for this vital role on the Seanad's Industrial and Commercial Panel.”

FTAI is urging those with voting power – County Councillors, elected Teachta Dálas (TDs) and current Senators – to endorse Declan Allen in the Seanad Éireann election.
