Daly Transport & Renault: the perfect match

The fleet of trucks in operation at Brian Daly Transport are all decorated in the company colours of black and red, with the Daly family crest adorning the fleet of trailers.

Through this, they have become one of the most recognisable fleets in the industry and it is no coincidence that Brian Daly Transport works with some of the leading blue chip companies in the country.

This business, which is based in Ballycoolin, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, has come a long way since John Daly first started up the haulage firm all those years ago, but despite the many changes in the industry during that time, they still have some of the same customers.

Ensuring that the company has still the same focus as it always has, Brian places a great emphasis on customer satisfaction.

Part of this is to ensure that the service provided is to the highest standard possible and this is partly achieved by operating a modern and efficient fleet of trucks and trailers.

"We are continually investing in the business and in the last year, we have upgraded the fleet with 13 new Renault trucks. We now have a fleet of 40 trucks servicing all of our customers.

The Brian Daly Transport fleet consists of rigid curtainsiders, rigid box-side, and articulated curtainsiders, while they are all equipped with tail lifts, driver and helper (when needed), power pallet trucks and vehicle tracking systems.

"We take great pride in the fleet and aside from being regularly maintained, the drivers ensure that they are kept clean inside and out. Our colours and family crest adorn all the fleet, which has resulted in our trucks becoming well known on the roads."

Brian Daly Transport offers a wide range of haulage services and warehousing, which are tailored to meet the customers' needs.

"Whatever, the customer wants; we will endeavour to get it done as quickly and efficiently as possible. We have some long standing customers that have been with us from the very start.

"Our aim is to always provide them with the level of service that they require and we try to adapt our services to meet their requirements.

"We have developed a 'one-stop shop' capability over the years and our objective is to provide a complete transport package for our customers."

Brian stressed that investment was essential to maintain the level of services that the customers have become accustomed too.

"We are continually evolving as a business and it is essential to have continued investment. As well as the new trucks, we bought some new 4-metre trailers as well this year."

Many of the employees have been with the company for a number of years, all of who have the best interest of the business at heart.

"Everyone pulls together when needed and if there is work to be done, we will do it, regardless of their position in the company.

"There are a lot of experienced people working here and they have played a massive part in the success of the business over the years.

"The drivers adhere to the Brian Daly Transport Services Driver Excellence programme, while they are fully trained in manual handling, power pallet truck and CPC."

Brian Daly Transport is the biggest logistics provider for Coca Cola since 1990 when they first started working for the drinks giant, while DHL and Johnson Brothers are other big customers.

"We would have a very good working relationship with all of our customers, many of who we would be working for many years now. We know what the customer expects from us and it is up to us to ensure that they get that level of service.

"It is essential to be able to diversify, as you just don't know what is around the corner in this industry. We are very fortunate to have such a loyal customer base."

Brian admits that the industry has taken a turn for the better in the last year or so. “Like everyone else, we were forced to cut back during the recession, but thankfully we are busy enough again.

“The price of diesel has come down, while the fuel rebate has helped. The drop in tax has also been a huge boost, but rates have not risen, while insurance has. In saying that, we have been with the same brokers Creane & Creane since the business was first started and they always try to get us the best deal possible.”

Brian is happy with the direction that the company is heading in at the moment and admits that they are happy with the work load that they have on.

“If we can continue to keep our customers happy then we are happy. We are busy enough at the minute and long may that continue.”
