Thirty years on the road for Sean Moriarty Transport

Over the last three decades, the family-run business has continually developed its transport networks and strengthened its resources.)

Celebrating 30 years in business, Sean Moriarty Transport Ltd is one of Ireland’s leading transport service providers and the North-East’s premier overnight nationwide pallet operator. Managing director Sean Moriarty explains more.

Sean Moriarty Transport has come a long way since it was set up as a one-man, one-van operation in 1986. The Dundalk-based company has built up a large customer-base by providing an unrivalled nationwide and UK groupage service. It offers a transparent, reliable and cost-effective transport service, from small packages and pallet loads to full containers, without compromising on quality of service.

Over the last three decades, the family-run business has continually developed its transport networks and strengthened its resources to meet its customers’ ever-changing needs, and is the only third party logistics supplier in the North-East to offer a world class global transport service. Customers in the North-East (specifically Louth and Monaghan) benefit from an exceptional service which sees their freight delivered overnight throughout Ireland, the UK and beyond. By working in conjunction with various transport networks, Sean Moriarty Transport can deliver transport solutions to meet the most demanding requests.

Reflecting on the first 30 years, Sean says: “I started with a small van doing a local delivery service. Having worked in a local factory for 13 years prior to that, it was all new to me but I soon got the hang of it and the business has been steadily growing ever since.

“The recession was a difficult time for everyone in the industry, but thankfully we’ve come through it okay. When you see the building trade starting to move again, it’s a good sign. We want to consolidate what we have over the next few years and to continue providing a top-class and dedicated forwarding service for our clients.”

Sean’s daughter and general manager Linda Daly has played a key role in the firm’s growth and success, while his sister Ann is also involved in the business which employs 22 staff. The drivers are professional, reliable and courteous, and are fully trained in all aspects of their work. Experienced in-house technicians, meanwhile, ensure that the wheels of the fleet are kept moving at all times.

The 14-stong Moriarty fleet consists of tractor units, rigids and vans. The immaculately presented vehicles are a mixture of Volvo, Scania, Renault and MAN, and bear red, white and yellow livery. In addition, there are five curtain-side trailers, while tail-lifts are standard on all vehicles.

While Sean Moriarty Transport has two state-of-the-art warehouses in Dundalk, all roads lead to Dublin every night where freight is exchanged with its logistics partners for deliveries to be completed back in their respective geographical area. The company has fostered strong links with various logistics companies throughout Ireland and the UK.

Linda says: “Our Irish and UK partners are market leaders in pallet and carton deliveries and provide a cost-effective and reliable freight distribution to thousands of business and customer addresses every day.  Customers can choose from overnight, economy or next working day services, each tailored to their specific requirements.

“Our partners offer the same level of commitment and dedication to delivering our freight as they do their own,” Sean assures us.

“We have struck up excellent working relationships with them which ensures we meet our next-day delivery promise. In conjunction with our partners, we are able to offer our customers numerous freight solutions, from parcels and pallets around Ireland, to full trailer loads to the UK and Europe.

“Every day we cater for a huge range of industry sectors, including food & drink, agriculture, engineering, chemical, technology and pharmaceuticals. We can also cater for heavy goods such as farm machinery, engineering products and vehicles. We started doing freight forwarding into the UK about six years ago in response to the growing export market, and it has gone really well for us. It has complimented what we already had here in Ireland.”

Sean Moriarty Transport’s location halfway between Dublin and Belfast and beside the M1 means nowhere in Ireland is too far away. As well as the two warehouses, there is a secure yard in Dundalk that facilitates 24-hour operations. All trucks are fully tracked and can be loaded and unloaded undercover, totally protected from the elements to ensure your freight is kept in perfect condition at all times.

Be sure to make this highly reputable company your first and only contact for all your transportation and logistics needs.
