SIMI have revealed that LCV sales are up hugely compared to the first half of last year while a good June saw HGV sales outstrip the first half of 2014 as well.

Light Commercials Vehicles (LCV), were up by 52% (801) on June 2014 (528) and are up 56% (14,600) for the first half of the year compared to 2014. HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) registrations, which had been lagging behind last year to the end of May, are up 89% for the month of June (157) compared with June 2014 (83), and are now up 4% year to date.

Commenting on the figures Brian Cooke Deputy Director General SIMI said: “The increase in both business and consumer confidence is evident within the commercial vehicle sector,  with Light Commercial Vehicle registrations showing  an increase so far this year of over 50%, and we can expect to see sales exceed 20,000 for the first time since 2008. HGV registrations have seen improvement for the month of June which will hopefully continue as the year progresses.”
