In the UK, vigilant artic lorry drivers helped paramedics at the scene of a motorway crash over the weekend.

The articulated lorry drivers formed a barricade to protect paramedics treating people injured in the crash on the M5 motorway until help arrived.

The multi-vehicle crash on Saturday closed off the southbound carriageway of the M5 between junctions five for Droitwich and six for Worcester. A very dangerous situation could have developed in the aftermath of the smash but for the quick thinking of truckers who arrived on the scene.

Mike Duggan of the West Midlands Ambulance Service tweeted: "Currently in attendance at serious RTC M5 south with @cmpg and @hwfire - always on my way home - M5 closed.

"@hatraffic_wmids @cmpg thanks to the Artic drivers that stepped up to the mark and blocked the carriageways. Kept me safe till help arrived".
