Newry based waste management company Wastebeater has bought out a local rival as it expands its portfolio.

The company is taking over Allclear Environmental in a move which it said would confirm its "position as the leading provider of commercial waste management services in Northern Ireland".

Wastebeater managing director Kieran Byrne said the transaction extended its geographical reach and expanded its customer base.

"This acquisition of Allclear is an exciting development for our company and is part of our ongoing growth strategy," he said.

"We are building our customer base, our geographical reach across the island of Ireland and Great Britain, and we are increasing our employee numbers.

"We have invested heavily in research and development and I am looking forward to introducing our new customers to our award-winning waste management and recycling solutions.

"Over the last decade we have led the way in Northern Ireland by investing in new technologies and exploring more innovative ways to recycle commercial and industrial waste.

"Wastebeater will continue to invest in market-changing technologies to provide the most cost effective and sustainable waste management and recycling services for all our customers."
